Windows 8 rumors of the
presence of apparently more incentive to blow if a new operating system will be
getting close to the time of its release. On the other hand, Microsoft
re-extend the "life" of Windows XP and Office 2003. Microsoft said it
will continue to provide updates to both of them for two years.
At the stage of
"Mainstream", all users of the software will receive all security
updates, improved stability, bug fixes, and new features for free.
At the stage of
"Extended", only security related updates are supplied free of
charge. For more updates, only companies with paid support contracts are
eligible.
This week, Windows XP
and Office 2003 will enter the stage of support "Extended".
However, two software "old" will only
get limited support (Extended support) from Microsoft.
Full support (Mainstream
support) for Windows XP and Office 2003 will expire this week.
A similar fate accepted
by Windows Vista and Office 2007 are actually younger. Support
"Mainstream" for them will end by 10th of the month April 2012.
Microsoft divides its
support for the software lifecycle dummy in two phases, namely the
"Mainstream" and "Extended".
